Lifehacker inspired a story by showing a video from Chris Prillo who has officially claimed to Upgrade to Windows XP, and as such, it gave us the opportunity to block-quote several semu-related articles from across the web:
Windows guy Chris Pirillo posted a 51-minute video (above) saying that 6 months later, Vista still has too many problems for it to be his main working operating system - so he “upgraded” to Windows XP. While Vista is a better operating system than XP, Pirillo says, it’s still plagued with issues that get in his way every day, like not having the right drivers for his printer.
4sysops has an interested article for those using Office 2007 but wishing they had the old office toolbars:
There are two Office add-ins that might be of help to your problem. One is Classic Menu for Office 2007 and the other goes for the name “Toolbar Toggle“. Both tools are quite similar. They allow you to work with Office 2007 using the menus and toolbars of Office 2003. However, they don’t remove the new interface completely. They just add the Office 2003 user interface. Toolbar Toogle Lite and Classic Menu for Office 2007 add another tab with the new UI.
Another post from Lifehacker outlines what to do for those who like to use CTRL + ALT + DEL:
Windows XP’s trusty CTRL + ALT + DEL key combination, which summons the task manager, has a slightly different effect in Windows Vista: it brings up a selection dialog (pictured) which requires another click or keypress to lock the computer, switch user, log off, change a password, or start the task manager. To go directly to the task manager and bypass this dialog altogether, like in the olden days? Hit CTRL + SHIFT + ESC instead.
