It seems as though Malaysians really enjoy standing around passing away the day by waiting in line - either that, or the government has done such a bad job of informing people about their options, because a total of only 17 people used the online traffic summonses website, as reported by TechCentral:
Despite the myriad of services now available online – 680 hosted by www.gov.my – people still prefer to conduct their official matters the old-fashioned way, and that means getting into their cars, reversing out of their front porches, joining in the long traffic jams and finally disembarking at the banks, government offices or post office where they have business at.
An example is the online payment facility for police and Road Transport Department (RTD) summonses, which was painstakingly put into place when the concept of electronic government was first launched.
The department announced that only 17 people chose the option of paying their traffic summonses through government websites last year, amounting to a paltry RM3,015. And between January and April 30 this year, nobody did.
