The question is;
“What’s the difference between custom built sites and templates?”

 

Templates are pre-existing designs that usually have a single style used throughout the project providing a simple structure with clear pre-defined layout restrictions and sever constrictions concerning their customization.  They can be tweaked and modified in an infinite number of ways, but are ultimately governed by what they are and that they will always be exactly that.

By this, what we really mean is that if the template has a circle and a square, you can have either as any colour you wish, and do anything you like inside each or around each, but there will always be a circle and a square on the page, and their locations will be exactly as they were originally.

Anything custom built is uniquely designed and has no restrictions of any kind.  You can have squares, triangles, and banana shaped cut-outs that change location on different pages and can even change with smooth transitions or in strange and fruitful ways…

Professional modifications allow template driven applications to have that added flare and unique feel whilst also allowing costs to remain as low as possible whilst maintaining a relatively high feature set and low turnover rate.
