TechCentral reports on a subject that brings much joy to our ears, especially after having already received fifteen unsolicited SMS messages today telling us to come spend our money at places we have never been to before:
All cellular service providers (celcos) have been given until the end of this month to set up a preventive system that automatically blocks spamming and spoofing of short messaging service (SMS).
“Nine content providers were slapped with compounds under Section 242 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 and the companies were listed on the MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) website,” said Dr Lim told Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang.
He said MCMC had carried out public awareness campaigns through websites, seminars, brochures and pamphlets to educate mobile phone users about their rights.
